Information about COVID-19

Due to the current health situation, we would like to point out internal but also external security measures and changes. Because in order to play our part in preventing the pandemic Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 we must act now.

True to the motto #FlattenTheCurve, it is our cooperative responsibility to act consciously. What exactly does this mean in times of a pandemic? Reducing human interactions to an absolute minimum and helping to ensure that the situation does not escalate exponentially and overwhelm our medical infrastructure. And even if the security measures mentioned above seem “feasible” at first, we are aware that all those involved in the fashion industry will suffer from the current security measures.

In order to support and strengthen the fashion and creative industry as well as other industries that are affected by necessary security measures, we would like to inform you about financial resources and grants from the federal states and the state in order to assist you with possible applications and questions.

We are at your disposal for any questions you may have.

On behalf of the entire Fashion Council Germany;
Stay safe and healthy!

Due to coronavirus our economis facing one of the greatest challenge in decades. Almost all industries are strongly affected, but especially freelancers and small as well as medium-sized companies.

For this purpose, has created a digital space to jointly survive this new and unpredictable economic crisis through – for example, crowdfunding, petitions, online actions or the simple exchange of information. We advise you to regularly check with the local business development agencies to find out about the possibilities.

The federal and state governments are working closely together to cope with the current situation. Also, we do work in constant, close exchange and in coordination with the BWMi, whose website provides sources and contacts that refer to the state level. We recommend to check the responsible business development agency and its existing but also newly created subsidies at state level. All links can be found on the website of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy.

For concrete economic questions, you can also contact your local IHK Branch, which provides hotlines and advice on the topic of coronavirus. In Berlin, for example, an additional state programme is to be adopted to help the creative industries in the face of the threat of a loss of turnover. Mayor Michael Müller (SPD) has suggested supporting the self-employed with a one-off grant of 15,000 euros.

Similar flexible and new funding possibilities are currently being designed and introduced in all federal states. Simple searches on the Internet by entering “Soforthilfe Berlin”, “Soforthilfe Bayern” or other state combinations provide useful contact and support information.

Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy has already taken a clear position on the current health crisis and points out the following support options:

1. The short-time working allowance

…becomes more flexible. Companies will be able to obtain it in future under simplified conditions. For example, short-time work compensation can be applied for if ten percent of the employees are affected by the loss of work. Here and here you will find specific information and contact persons.

2. The improvement of tax measures

…facilitates the liquidity of companies. To this end, deferral of tax payments will be made easier and advance payments can be reduced more easily. Enforcement and late payment surcharges are waived in connection with the corona effects. For this purpose, it is recommended to contact one’s own tax offices, pension and social security institutions and municipalities.

3. The liquidity

…of companies is also supported by new measures, unlimited in volume. To this end, existing programmes for liquidity support will be expanded and made available to more companies. As a rule, the house banks provide information on the new possibilities. However, there are also KfW loans for bridging the gap, also for guarantees via the guarantee banks of the Länder. It is also worthwhile to have a look at the websites of the state development banks, here for example in Lower Saxony

4. At EU level

…Federal Economics Minister Peter Altmaier and Federal Finance Minister Scholz are currently holding talks for a coordinated and decisive approach. Among other things, the Federal Government welcomes the European Commission’s idea for a “Corona Response Initiative” with a volume of 25 billion euros.

In order to face this pandemic cautiously and with the right measures, we are appealing primarily to portals such as the Robert Koch Institute, the Federal Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization to keep themselves informed about the current situation of the novel corona virus.
