The Fashion Council Germany and its four pillars
The FASHION COUNCIL GERMANY was founded in 2015. It is a special interest group for German fashion. The objective is to promote and establish German fashion as a cultural and economic asset as is normal in countries such as United Kingdom and France.
This is achieved through specific support for young German talent with a joint management of national activities, strengthening the awareness of German design at home and abroad. The awareness of German fashion and German designers has to be improved. National industry has to be interconnected with German fashion designers and startups.
The FASHION COUNCIL GERMANY is the point of contact for German fashion design with the responsibility of the political, media, cultural and industrial lobby work.
The advanced training for designers and young designers is a central issue of the FASHION COUNCIL GERMANY. Examples are through mentoring, coaching, advanced training, presentations and workshops with expert panels.
The importance of economics is emphasised as a central point by the FASHION COUNCIL GERMANY. Fashion companies will be supported, particularly in the economic field, through network management, support in shows, finding investors, retail projects and staff recruitment.
German fashion must acquire a stronger position as an important cultural commodity. Fashion and designers will be better positioned nationally and internationally through increased press, publicity and lobby work.
Modern technology isn’t reserved for the classical industrial branches, but also have a wide range of uses in the fashion industry, such as fibre studies (trials) networking in technology and textile, printing techniques along with the use of digital presence.

The extended Steering Committee consists of Chris Stricker, Christina Oster-Daum, David Fischer, Dirk Schönberger, Dr. Christian Ehler, Inga Griese, John Cloppenburg, Manuela Kampp-Wirtz, Nadja Swarovski und Sung-Joo Kim.
