How is Corona going to change the fashion world?
In my opinion, Corona will lead to an overall reduction in the number of products in the long term – in return for greater authenticity and focus with regard to the range. This also includes quality: I hope that we enter a new era of value. We will also probably see a stronger differentiation between classics and high fashion products in the future. Classics form the basic assortment of the wardrobe, which is broken up with small, always new and surprising, but limited Capsule Collections.
Can you also learn something from the crisis?
I think that the present also has its positive side and can be instructive and healing in many ways. Corona perhaps functions here like a catalyst that reinforces already existing longings and tendencies. Such as the increasing demand for durable products and a deceleration of the fast fashion system. This could lead to a change of heart: Luxury takes time to be appreciated.
What would have to happen?
Seasonal cycles have to be adjusted aswell as overproduction has to be avoided – in the end it is about adjusting collections and offers to the demand. The issue of sustainability is in any case becoming more and more important, so recycled materials or sample production will play a greater role in Europe. I personally wish for more mindfulness in dealing with resources as well as with my fellow human beings.
